The Amazon Source Code Notice page shows some new upcoming firmware releases:
  • 5.7.3 for Voyage and Paperwhite II/III.
  • 5.1.2 for Fire tables

Nothing yet on the actual download page.

There was never an option to encrypt your data on the kindle. Or am I missing something? What exactly is supposed to be new in 5.7.3 vs 5.7.2.1?

Or am I reading this wrong and we will have access to the system partition without rooting the kindle?

some indication as to how big a book is would be nice again. I do like the new look of the homepage much better otherwise (not the recommendation, but just as list). Getting rid of the ugly black bar at top is great.

Must be something half significant, they wouldn't increase the release number from 5.7.2 to 5.7.3 if it were just bug fixes would they? I would expect 5.7.2.2 for that

I'm guessing that it is going to be some UI tweaks. I'll bet that they are receiving increased support calls due to the change they made where "All" books doesn't really mean all books, but only books stored in your Amazon account. Based on comments on Mobileread, this has been confusing for users who sideload books.
