Do you have a color eink device?
As basically every major ereader company has released a color eink device by now, it would be interesting to know how many MR members own one or are planning to get one in the near fufure.
Personally, I'm not interested in color eink, but of course I may change my mind one day. |

I don't, and currently have no interest in them.
My reading is novels, so there is no use for it in my case. And my reading is slanted to reading on my pc more than my Libra2. I tend to get too comfy on the couch and fall asleep when using the ereader. |

I am interested, but I haven't yet seen a device with all the features I would want in the right package.

I've got a PocketBook InkPad Color.
It's not quite good enough for me to use. Contrast, even in sunlight, not quite good enough. Color too muddy, even in sunlight. B&W text too much degraded from grayscale e-ink. I thought that maybe it would be OK for a book with a lot of pastel colors. I didn't have any books like that, but got one to support an author being attacked for writing a children's book telling the story of her grandparents' love story in a detention camp and to see how pastel illustrations looked. (They were dark and muddy. Is this what the amazon Colorsoft vivid mode addresses?) |

If Gallery 6 were out by the time I needed to replace my Libra 2, and I could have colour covers with no compromises, then I'd certainly be interested. Kaleido isn't good enough to justify the worse performance on BW content, so I'm not interested in any device that uses it.

I have a Clara Color for my kid, which she rarely uses. It's a neat gimmick, but quickly loses its novelty.

I have been reading almost exclusively on colour e-readers for more than a year now and in my case there is no turning back. I don't use it for specific colour content, but mainly for novels to which I add "touches" of colour that I find aesthetically very pleasing. Obviously, I belong to the first group.

I voted that I don’t know if I’ll get one or not. Every day that goes by I get less and less inclined to do so. Aside from the discussion on this forum I look at the reviews on Amazon which seem too get worse by the day.

The Colorsoft on Amazon US has 2.5 stars. On Amazon UK, it's 3 stars. This is not good for something so expensive.

Hi everyone, I've been on the ereader subreddits for a while but just discovered this beautiful community.
I guess my first post will be about colour. I voted "I've had a color device but didn't like it", but more accurately it should be "I currently have a colour device, don't like it, looking to go back to B&W". I have had the Inkpad Color 3. I found the darkness of the screen to be unpleasant at first, but as I mostly read indoors for the greatest part of the year (I live in N. Ireland, not much sun here), I got used to the looks of it when using the frontlight. I never really learned to like it (coming from a 10-year-old Kindle PW where I almost never used the frontlight), but I got used to it. I read a colour book (The Climate Book) and loved how the many graphs it contains come alive on this reader, they are much easier to read and understand in colour. However, that's the only colour book I've read. And then I took it with me on holiday to Greece; that was a game changer. The screen is so dark under the bright Mediterranean sunlight. At the beach (my favourite reading location), I just couldn't bear reading on this screen, it's just too dark. So now, I am looking to go back to B&W and spending lots of time reading/watching reviews to try and decide which way to go. For me, Kaleido is not ready, which is also why I was disappointed when the Kindle Colorsoft came out using the same tech. |
