Pocketbook 901 is being released for schools (video)
It is launched targetted to be used by schools, colleges for about 350 US$ (probably lower when bought in bulk), it's a 9.7" e-ink screen. It does not have a touchscreen or Wifi, but a micro usb port and a sd card slot. Source: http://armdevices.net/2010/06/03/poc...1-is-released/ |

I could pay 350$ if it is great and they remove the bright colors on the buttons and make it in black...

Looks very nice, but it needs a "next page" button on the lower left side.

If the 901 stays with the existing software platform, you can rotate it and move it wherever you want. Oh, and early prototype pictures featured a black model with black buttons. Color buttons make plenty of sense for a K-12 product, though. |

The dudes who made this obviously all never went to school, because I see no mention of PDF support or annotation capability.

Then their marketing/PR department needs to be fired. But, I am excited about the device if this is true.

Go on the Pocketbook website. The PDF support is well known. Just because it wasn't mentioned in a random video taken by a random person isn't a marketing fail.

No mention of pen support on the pocketbook 360 website.
Every single pen-supported e-reader that I know of has the pen front and center in the demo because it is a Big Deal. The fact that there's no mention of pen anywhere on released specs and no pen in the demo makes it quite reasonable to assume there's no such support. Marketing fail is far less likely than it's simply not a feature. Oh well, I guess there's always the 9" Boox some time in the distant future in a galaxy far far away. The Pocketbook 360 site makes no mention of pen support because there is none. The Pocketbook 302, however, has pen support. The upcoming 602 has Wacom pen support.
Similarly, the 901 makes no mention of pen support because it doesn't have it. You did see the part about K-12 market, right? Shortly after the 901 releases they intend to release a 903 model *with* pen support. It seems Pocketbook Global believes not everybody wants touchscreens on their readers and allow both options. One size does NOT fit all. |

Nice...another large-screen reader. After the QUE and Skiff fallout, this could be a nice addition to the market and give the DX some company
