The guys over at SlashGear have done an excellent hands-on review of the Pixelar E-Reader. Their verdict:

Ah, see the light
Yup, another V3 rebranded device.
And have a look at this light on the pixelar page, bearing the name "HanLin". Hadn't come across this special type before. Nice. |

A nice review, though I'm not sure that I agree that "one company selling the same hardware to a bunch of different vendors (who put their own apps on it)" is the same as that hardware being "popular."

It's obviously more re-branded hardware, but that's fine. If this is the path required to spread ebook readers, I'm all for it.

@ NatCh and DaleDe:
Well, well. Got another market-structure over here. Sony startet direct mainstreet selling of the PRS 505 here in Germany today. Along with Cybook and iRex and imported Sonys, most of the readers in use on this side of the pond surely are rebranded Jinkes. That's popular enough ... By the way: What's this "Kindle" thingy everyone keeps talking about? No use over here, you see, folks ? Last edited by beachwanderer; 03-11-2009 at 09:24 AM. |
