Update 7.17 problem

After Update 7.17 the Ebook-viewer doesn't start.
After deinstalling Version 7.17 and reinstalling Version 7.16 the Ebook-viewer works properly.
System: Win10 Pro newest Version 19045.4894.
What happens in the meantime with calibre?

The usual suggestion would be to update your video driver if an update is available. calibre uses QT for it's video interface and the people behind QT seem drop support for older video drivers rather enthusiastically.

One alternate suggestion is to add an environmental variable QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS and give it the value --disable-gpu.

Do a search for environmental variables which should open System Properties. Click on the Environmental Variables button then under System variables, click on the New button. In the box that pops up, enter QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS in the Variable name and --disable-gpu in the Variable value then click OK. You may need to restart your computer before this will take effect.

Thanks for your answer.
The video driver is actual.
After installing the environment variable, the system freezes.
Version 7.18 the same problem.
I go back to Version 7.16. This runs without problems.

Peter

Install the portable version of 7.18 and see if it runs with no settings changed. If it runs, then there could be a problem in your settings. Copy the install calibre settings to the settings directory in the portable directory. If the portable version then will not run, Then rename all.json files to .jason.bak and if calibre runs then rename them back .json one-by-one until calibre fails to run and then you know where the problem is.
