KoReader on Nook Glowlight 3 tutorial?
I'm almost positive I found this once on this site, but having trouble finding it again. Is there a step by step tutorial for installing KoReader on a Nook Glowlight 3?
I think I finally want to try this. Thanks for any links. |

A similar problem here when I update my Likebook, I notice the animation keeps going. I have to click somewhere on the screen to finish the update. Since it doesn't bother me too much, I haven't tried to debug or fix that. Feel free to create a ticket at https://github.com/koreader/android-...auncher/issues with the proper ADB logs and we'll try to help if it's possible. |

It's impossible to disable the Nook boot animation without root access. However, you do not need to permanently root the device: you don't need to replace the boot loader or otherwise make any permanent mods to get root, and don't need to leave it in a rooted state when you're done with the one thing that needs root access.
If you just run the Nook "rootGLP-3" tool, it will give you temporary root access. From here, most people like to make mods so that they will have permanent root access, but this is in no way necessary; you can just disable the boot animation and then simply reboot the Nook; root access will then be completely gone, and the device will be completely identical to factory, *except* that the boot animation is now disabled. Up to you if that counts as "rooting" it, based on your considerations. Root access in hand, the specific file you need to move or rename to get rid of the boot animation is "/system/bin/bootanimation"; search the forum for specific steps to do that if needed. Good luck! |
