Calibre syncing highlights with notes between devices?
I would like it very much if the highlights and notes I have added to a book would appear on any device where I open the book in Calibre. Is that a reasonable expectation or does Calibre not do this? If it does, how do I get that to work? I have set up a Calibre server, but when I open the server on the same machine and open the book in it the highlights do not show up. Please advise.

You need to setup user accounts on the server then it will sync automatically.

Thank you for responding. I did set up a user account. And I required authentication to access the server. But even then, when I open the book in the server browser interface, after having logged into the account, there are no highlights. Also, I do not see how the user account gets used on a client device running Calibre (not the browser inteface), since Calibre does not appear to require authentication.

You go to the miscellaneous section of the viewer preferences and add the name of the user account you want to sync annotations with.

Not sure what you mean by "viewer preferences", but if I press the Preferences button there is only the Miscellaneous button, and there is nothing to do with user accounts in there. Please see the screen shots when I figure out how to insert screen shots.

Found it. Thank you for your patience and persistence. I have not tested functionality, so I may be back. But for now I am on course.

Calibre syncing highlights with notes between devices -- #2?
Although I have the server running and I have a user account "mel" and plenty of highlights in the text, the server still does not show the highlights. Please advise.

Make a new highlight, then open the book on the content server, access the viewer controls there, and click the sync button.
