Falkvinge, Rick: Swarmwise, v1.0, 8 Aug 2013

In 2006, Rick Falkvinge decided to change the world for the better. He chose an unorthodox route and founded the very first Pirate Party. Less than ten years later, there are Pirate Parties in more than 70 different countries, and the pirate movement has become a political force to be reckoned with.

Swarmwise is the story of how one man managed to create a global phenomenon for political change. It is also a tactical manual to how you can tap into the power of the swarm and channel its force toward your goals. This applies equally whether the game you want to change is business, political, or social, and is especially relevant when you have no money and less time at your disposal.

The work is available in print, but electronic copies are released under a CreativeCommons license. from the book:
Quote:
You are free to make as many copies of this book as you like and share with friends and strangers, as long as you credit the author and you don’t sell them. Actually, you’re not just free to share copies with your friends, but downright encouraged to. If you like this book, why shouldn’t you share it with your friends?

Formally, this book is under copyright monopoly until January 1, 2034 — twenty years from publication. During that time, it is licensed under a Creative Commons Noncommercial-Attribution 3.0 license, meaning what is said above about free sharing. These are the same terms as suggested in the author’s previous book, The Case for Copyright Reform. Commercial exclusive rights rest with the author for the twenty years.
The basis for this epub was taken from the version available at tuebl. However, it had been generated from Word/Calibre and had many issues in the html and css styling. The style sheets have been considerably simplified and the formatting changed to better resemble the original pdf version.

Smile Falkvinge, Rick: Swarmwise. v1.1. 28 Aug 2013

Hi DomesticExtremis, thanks so much for sharing this EPUB!

I made some further tweaks I thought I'd share back with y'all :-).

What started out as a minor polish did not stop until my OCD was satisfied . Most of the stuff was to make the epub more consistent and more readable on ereaders and calibre while still looking as close to the original PDF as possible. Behold ^^:

Changes I made (all done with calibre polish/tweak//text editor):
Spoiler:
  • changed book title to title listed on Amazon
  • switched cover image for higher-resolution one from Google Images
  • Smartened Punctuation (to fix some odd quotation marks and ellipses)
  • Polished TOC:
    • Added missing chapters 7 and 10
    • numbered chapters
    • Added part titles
    • rearranged TOC hierarchy (chapters inside parts)
    • added missing space in heading of chapter 4
  • XHTML Fixes:
    • added missing space in heading, removed <br> in subheading of chapter 4
    • made mentioned weblinks clickable
    • more consistent usage of Single-linepara class
  • CSS changes:
    • removed text body paragraph margins, added first line indentation to them (plus added/changed various CSS rules and made some minor xhtml modifications to exempt infoboxes, subheadings etc. from that)
    • removed chapter page side margins (this way the ereader sets the margins and less screen space is wasted)
    • reduced top margin of title page main header (works better with larger font sizes)
    • reduced side margins on non chapter files
    • reduced top margins on part title pages
    • added line-break before quote attributions
    • prettied up CSS file, rearranged rules more logically
    • changed top margin to padding at page beginnings to fix calibre not displaying top margins there
  • backcover:
    • added bg color to div to fix calibre display issues
    • changed margin into padding to fix calibre display issues
    • fixed link color
  • OPF edits:
    • set type="text" start marker in opf file
    • cleaned up metadata in opf file
    • added some minor metadata

I also created an AZW3/KF8 Kindle version with KindleGen (Split from the combined MOBI/KF8 file. Sadly, the mobi is unreadable and I can't be bothered to polish that too! :P)
