沈復: 浮生六記 (Traditional Chinese)
This is not a novel. The book is a collection of some description about the life of the author in different stages.
The book was never published when the author was alive (He was born 250 years ago). It was only transferred in manuscript by friends of the author. Many years later, the book was found in used-book market with only 4 chapters left (According to the book title, there should be 6 chapters). The people who found the remainder was amazed by its beautiful language and decided to make it public (there was no copyright regulation then). The book was famous because the author's beautiful description and sincere emotion. One of the chapters is adopted in Taiwan official high school textbook. So, imagine its popularity. Note: The pdf file is for iLiad. And its TOC is clickable. This work is assumed to be in the Life+70 public domain OR the copyright holder has given specific permission for distribution. If you want to create pdf files with clickable TOC. Here is some of my experience. FYI.
Prerequisite: MS WORD: I don't know if other text editors will do. ADOBE ACROBAT (not Acrobat Reader): it will install some plugin in MS WORD for user to create pdf file with clickable TOC (That's why I have to stick to MS Word). I would suggest to update Acrobat to version 8.12 or above. PDF utilities other than Acrobat is beyond my knowledge. Steps: 1. Make TOC in MS Word. 2. Create pdf in MS Word using plugins provided by Acrobat. 3. It will take much more time to build pdf with clickable TOC than un-clickable TOC. Go out for a walk and let your machine do its job. Add-on: I just found that OpenOffice alone can export PDF with clickable TOC. Pdf utilitiy is not required. Maybe you should try it. OpenOffice supports vertical text direction also.
