Angry Datebase corrupt and would not restore all books

How do I restore all of my books if the DB won't recognize more than 24 of the 3000 or so I have in there? Is there an easy way to put all of the files back into the database. I have years worth of work that I don't want to lose.

This all started when Calibre wouldn't launch today. I folowed the directions in the manual and deleted the database metafile and relaunched the Calibre. It would recognise the library, so I tried restore and only go 24 books. out of 3000+.

Runing Window 64 bit on Windows 10.

Thanks.

Be sure your Library is on a local drive: (no NAS or shares)
You used the Restore Database item under Library Maintenance?

I should say that all of the books contain their own metadata files.

metadata.opf is what Calibre restore USES to rebuild the DB as well as
metadata_db_prefs_backup.json, which is the Structure (as customized) of what the DB should have.

If that is gone, you only get the default fields upon restore

I used the Restore Database itens under Libray Mantainance. My library and Calibre was running well with the Library located in One Drive. Then my hard drive got corrupted and was replaced. l

Will moving it to a new location on my hard drive fix this issue?

The orginals were overwritten when I tried to restore. I do have the pre restore meta file that Calibre created in there.

I am really only concernced that I get the books and the basic meta data. I had tons of customizations that I have come to terms with losing. How do I get Calbre to recognize the other books. The move to the harddrvie only took the books that were in the "new" smaller library.

Would I use the "Add Books" function pull the metadata for each book from it's folder?

I discovered the latest update of Calibre is causing some windows 10 users to have Calibre not launch. Reinstalling an older version fixes that issue, so I though I would experiment since I had little to lose.I got it fixed.

1. Installed an older version.
2. Manually moved all books (in their folders) into the "new" library folder.
3.Moved the current "metadata" and the" metadata_db_prefs_backup.json" files out of the "new" library file into a random folder.
4. Left the "metadata_pre_restore" file in the new library folder.
5. Then renamed it "metadata".
6.Ran Restore Database from Library Management and it worked.

All books and preferences were restored.
Thanks for your help.
