wow! I already have an ebook reader, and access to all the Amazon's content for $9.99 and I have been carrying it around for almost two years. The iPhone. This changes everything. . . Greatest move Amazon has ever made :-)

Ars Technica posted an article at the beginning of February with John Siracusa's prediction that Kindle would lose out to the iPhone in the same way that Rocketbook lost out to the Palm.

What are the possibilities for reading existing non-DRM on the iphone. For example, .mobi or .prc? Will stanza do this or do they need to be converted?

interesting!
This is a very interesting and awesome development! I can't wait to see how it is going to work out.
With Apples move to release MP3's without DRM, one can hope that Ebooks will follow? Hopefully sooner rather than later? Amy |

It works great. Took only seconds to locate all my Kindle books at Amazon and downloads those you want to read in seconds. Will also synchronize where you are on both devices. I love it!

Doesn't seem to work with the periodicals though. This is a disapointment. That's really what I wanted to see here. Don't plan on reading books on the iPhone still, but would love to read magazines and newspapers.

Hmm, not getting hot or cold from this one. I still don't see what is so special about that Apple phone or Apple Mp3 player that they should be given a special treatment.

The big question. Can we now download kindle books if we don't own a Kindle and convert the file to Sony reader format? Do non-Americans now have access?

Here is a review. http://www.treotoday.net/2009/03/04/kindle-iphone/
I am not sure about having to own a Kindle, Harry. Where did you find that? That would be a bummer, really. If that is true, they should offer a mobi reader for Iphone, as it would be the same software, essentially. Here the reviewer even expressly states that it is possible to get books on Amazon without a Kindle Last edited by mtravellerh; 03-04-2009 at 05:48 AM. |

I wrote the review on Treo Today. I can confirm you don't need a Kindle. Here are a couple of things that I didn't mention :
1. You don't need to be in the US, just have a US iTunes account. 2. You don't need to have a US Amazon account. |
