Update folders/file names after changing default save template.

My save template was set to default of {author_sort}/{title}/{title} - {author}
before importing many books.

I wanted to change it to remove the author. How do I update it now? I see no way to do it as a batch or even individually.

Now, it think I would prefer to change it to {tags}/{title}/{title}
But same problem.

Any advice or links to other relevant posts which I could not find would be helpful. Thanks

Also, in the folder structure, what are the numbers in parenthesis next to each book title name?

Is there an option to remove these.

The Save template affects the folder and filename structure of ebooks exported from the Library using the "Save to disk" function. Changing it will change all future exports.

The Save template doesn't not affect the file and folder structure that calibre uses for the Library. The Library structure is fixed, by design, and can't be customized.

These are "index" numbers that calibre uses to avoid conflicts when there are multiple book entries that have matching titles. Again, there are no options to alter calibre's Library structure.

(unless you want to destroy your library )

There are no options on how books are saved on your PC. READ the FAQ's

the number is also the template: {id}
It is what ties the lineitem in the library to a SPECIFIC book

You seem to have a problem understanding what it is that YOU yourself wrote, I suggest you read your first post in this thread out loud to yourself, then maybe you could then apologize. I want hold my breath waiting.

I'm quite confused here. The save template has NOTHING to do with importing books. On importing content is stored with a fixed (not changeable) format file name in the calibre database / library.

As others said, the save template is used when data is exported from calibre to a user's own, non calibre library location.
