Wapedia - Wikipedia for mobile access

Recently we mentioned Maxpedia.org, a free proxy for mobile WAP access to Wikipedia. Florian Amrhein now sent us word of his site Wapedia, which goes even one step further: Wapedia brings Wikipedia content not only to WAP devices, but also to other mobile devices like PDAs supporting HTML.

Supported devices:

- autodetect: en.wapedia.org
- WAP1-Mobiltelephone: wap.en.wapedia.org
- WAP2-Mobiltelephone (requires xhtml browser): wap2.en.wapedia.org
- PDAs: pda.en.wapedia.org
- Webbrowser: www.en.wapedia.org

German and French languages are also supported!

I am especially in love with the Current Events section. Well done, Florian!

Is it just me or do you others also feel an increase in high-quality mobile web pages?

This is curious, since so many people call the PDA a dying market, and yet there is so much more you can do with your PDA today than just one year ago.

Hi,
I found a new way to access Wikipedia from your mobile phone, from a new startup, called Unyverse, there is a nice You tube video here:

It has some nice features over the web/wap browser access:
* you get a better reading experience, change font size, page by page scrolling
* you can bookmark any article and access all your bookmarks from your unyverse web account
* you can read your previosuly downloaded articles offline

A new way to access Wikipedia on your mobile

Hi,
There is a new service which enables Wikipedia access on your mobile, it' called Unyverse. It is smart client application running on your Java , Siambian or Windows Mobile Phone.
It has nice advantages over the pure WAP/WEB access:
1) The reading experience is better I think because your can scroll page by page and adapt the font size
2) You can bookmark articles and retrieve them on your unyverse web account
3) You read access offline all your previously downloaded articles, which is usefull when there is no or slow network data coverage.
4) It is faster because the entire article content is downloaded compressed, then you can read any section instantly

There is a nice demo on You Tube
