TI Calculator Emulator Port for iLiad
vranghel has provided his TI83 ROM so I'm taking him at his word that he's going to cover my butt on the licensing aspects.
The TI Calculator Emulator iLiad Port is back in the pipe... If anyone else wants a specific TI Calculator, same terms: buy one (it can be broken, so long as it still contains the ROM chip), write my name on it, store it, send me the ROM file, be prepared to support anyone else needing to suck their ROM for that calculator. |

Whoa! That was really fast scotty!
Great work! I agree with the people who suggested you should be hired by iRex. If only they had half your zeal! |

Did you purchase this calculator just for this port?
I have nothing against people helping other people as long as they dont have to take money out of THEIR pocket to do something for OTHER people. |

The only use I have for it is supporting this port.
I have zero use for a calculator with an = key. I think this port will be the first one to leverage the iLiad's USB port. Since users will need to supply a ROM image to use it I'm planning on enabling the emulator to directly suck ROM's off TI83's via USB cable. |

So one will have to have a TI83 in order to use the emulator...

It runs all the Z80 CPU based TI calculators:
Code:
TI-73 TI-82 TI-83 TI-83+ TI-83+ SE TI-84+ TI-84+ SE TI-85 TI-86 |

Nope, the kernel has been sucking down all of my time.
I did get the TI83+ from eBay though. Now I'm trying to find a USB cable for it. Anything USB gets attention. ;-) |

I think i wrote something about the usb cable in a pm i sent you;
Anyways here it is again: The TI calculators use some funky type of cable; I think it's called TI Cable Link; Here's a picture of it As you can see, one end is USB and the other is a headphones style connector. |

yes, all that and more. My first toe into the deep sleep will likely be Sandboy rather than Sandman.
I've got a working loadable kernel module CD-ROM filesystem so I can now attach a USB CD/DVD drive, mount the CD/DVD and access the goodies (think Debian). I also have a working CD audio player albeit that is a bit silly I admit. I have a working loadable kernel module for mounting Windows network shares so I can mount a sharepoint on the iLiad and copy files to/from it. A useful development tool since you can also execute from it. You build a binary on your development system and then turn to your iLiad and run it. What fascinates me is I can get all this complex stuff working but the trivial USB keyboard driver crashes the system. iRex isn't sanctioning any of this kernel hacking, they've switched back to patronizing mode again (their game plan for me involves Poppler and little else right now), so I'm being very careful to shake it all out very well before releasing it. |
