Copyright
Hello I am using calibre to convert my books to ebook. Does calibre then own rights to the copyright because i used the software. Does it store these books thank you

No, it doesn't own the copyright. And it stores the books on your local drive, nowhere else.

Presumably you have been bitten before by some poison pill like this hidden in the Terms of Service.
One of the advantages of Free and Open Source Software is that such things are a little harder to sneak in unnoticed. And with the source code available, if Calibre were to introduce such a clause into a future version, someone could simply fork the software and revert the change, or fork the version from before the change was introduced. |

Even if Calibe were to lock things down in the future (no hint of that being considered), as long as you read and heed, the release notes before updating, you would be safe if the terms were to change.

Hi Nadine, The copyright is owned by the publisher or author. So long as you don't have any intentions of uploading the books so that anyone can snatch it you are fine. So convert away and enjoy reading.

No, Calibre doesn't claim ownership of the copyright to your books just because you used their software to convert them into ebook format.
