Aura getting 'Unable to Communicate' message
My Aura keeps getting an "unable to communicate with device" message when I connect to my Mac. Calibre reads the contents of the Aura and an icon for it appears on the Mac's home screen.
This is the error report: calibre, version 1.43.0 ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device database disk image is malformed Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 86, in run File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 490, in _books File "site-packages/calibre/devices/kobo/driver.py", line 1765, in books DatabaseError: database disk image is malformed I recently updated Calibre but it's awhile since the Aura updated. This has never happened in Calibre before. Does anyone know what's going on? |

That error means the database on the device is corrupt. You would probably have noticed problems like not remembering the reading status of books if you powered the device off.
If you have a recent backup, you can restore it. Otherwise the fix is to logout on the device and back in. That will create a new database and reload the books. Occasionally, that isn't enought and you need to do a factory reset. |

I just ran into that message after putting an SD card in my aura for the first time. I did format it first. Calibre would load some books to the card, but give the communication error with others. After reading this, I power cycled, and the aura informed me that it couldn't read the micro SD card! I removed it. I'll try formatting it again.
