I saw a third party seller pop a Y2 up on Amazon for over $900 the other day.

It's a cool device, and I prefer smaller devices for reading, but yowza. I really hope when Project Ara hits that eink screens eventually become available.

Any idea if it is possible to only use the eink display and disable the normal display via default? Even after a reboot?

Yes, you can start the Android interface on the e-ink side without ever turning the LCD on.
