SONY PRS T1 Sorry! The application Home has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Hello. I need help. I know this is and old reader but I hope someone here can still help me fix it.
I fear I brick my reader when trying to root it using Rootset-Mynimo-B3 from here : http://www.mediafire.com/download/g1...imo-B3Home.zip Well, the reader reboot himself buit when it got back I have the persistent message "Sorry! The application Home has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." and it gives me the option to force close nut when I press it it just comes back on a on. I can see the wifi icon on standby, the battery and, when I connect the reader to the PC, I also can see the usb status icon with "connect" and "disconnected" when I put the cable on or remove it. The thing is I can't reach any other option in order to soft or hard reset the reader and I can't connect via data tranfer to the PC to restore or do anything. I tried to hard reset by doing the next page and back buttons pressing but since I can´t load the Home Screen I can't seem to do anything with the button secuence. I really hope someone can help me. I just reacieved the reader and can't affort any other one. Thank you very much and excuse my poor english. |

Here is a photo of the screen https://www.mobileread.com/forums/att...1&d=1479912533
Also, if I press the power button long enough to get the reset screen I can´t press YES because the error screen keeps getting in the way. If I press the power button one time oddly I get the reader sleep mode screen with the book cover of "Around the World in 80 days" (!!!) Last edited by FranzFox; 11-23-2016 at 10:55 AM. |

What firmware was the T1 running when you tried to root?

Hello and thanks for your help.
I had the latest firmware that Sony has in the site 1.0.07.05070 Previous to rooting the device I checked that I could do it with that firmware version and it seem that I could do it. |

The solution to your problem is to start saving for a new Reader. If you had 1.0.04 or earlier, you might have been able to recover. But with 1.0.07, there's no way to recover.

Try taking out the memory card and/or putting one in.

Thanks for helping!
Did it. Put one SD card into the reader and the "Loading" status appeared but nothing else. It seems to me that everything is working but the Home Screen. The status bar works everytime I plug the cable to the pc or to charge it and the curious thing about the sleep cover book screen and all... is really weird. If I could just reach the recovery, data tranfer usb or something... |

Could Sony Support help me with this even if I was trying to root the device? Is there any way to fix it or install a new version via hardware or something? Can I do something about it with an SD Card with an software image in it?... there must be something

Hello Franz,
the paperclip thing (you call it soft reset) essentially turns your T1 off. You just can't notice it, because your screen stays the way it was previously. You might want to read some additional info over at the-ebook.org Especially this thread Hate to write it: You should have done so, before trying to root your device. This way I returned my T1 several times to FW 1.0.something and reinstalled some later fw. updates, but never 1.0.07. So JSWolf might be right with his statement regarding 1.0.07. And, of course you will need a good backup. By installing one from another device, you will also clone some internals as MAC-address and device-ID, affecting Adobe-registration. BTW: I remember another resent post here regarding downgrading the fw., that essentially deals with your problem and has something about editing some part of the retrieved image with a hex-editor and flashing it back. Hope this will give you some start |

Hello and thank for giving me more info and help.
I wish 24 hour ago I read that article as you say, but instead I did this to my reader... Could you be more specific about what options do I have? Maybe Sony could help me? How could I get an 1.0.07 working backup? Is there someone still trying to make a recover of this version like all previous ones? Also, could you refer me that post that you say deals with my problem about that hex thing and flashing my reader back? I don't know how could I do any change in the software since I can not reach it with usb cable... Thank you very, very much. |

The problem is that the latest SD recovery firmware was created for 1.0.0.4. The t1 was out of favor and many people have moved on since before Sony dropped their bookstore and customers were moved to Kobo.
From what I read, the SD recovery only works if both the SD Recovery and the T1 have the same firmware. So from what I can find, saving for a new Reader is your only option. Last edited by JSWolf; 11-24-2016 at 12:55 PM. |

Have you tried to download rupors "20121208 - rescue, backup & restore" package and extracted it to a micro-sd-card, put it into your reader and booted into recovery-mode? Were you able to connect to the console via usb (optional step) and/or was the device presented in your PCs-OS when connected via USB? If so, the special mini-linux on the sd-card (no android) will allow to rewrite the whole internal memory of your T1, bringing it to a state prior rooting. (Probably messing with some ID-data, but as I assume, an Adobe-Registration will be your least concern). Now you have to find a good backup. On page 20 of of above mentioned thread there is a link to another russian forum There might be the chance to get 1.0.04 (russified) and 1.0.05 images. OTOH if your device will not boot rupors special "rescue, backup & restore" your are definitely out of luck and will have to follow JSWolfs advice. Last edited by Mark Nord; 11-24-2016 at 03:31 PM. |

If you are going to save for a new device, I suggest the Kobo Aura H2O or the Kobo Aura Edition 2 because that way you can keep on using the same ePub eBooks without having to convert and maybe do some editing.
Also, if you use Overdrive and are not in the US, you can continue to use Overdrive. |
