Piper, H. Beam: The Cosmic Computer. v1. 7 Jun 07
"Is there really a Merlin?"
Everybody on the war-torn planet Poictesme believed it existed. And they all believed that when this super-gigantic computer was located amid the mountains of surplus equipment that was the planet's sole source of revenue, it would mean Utopia for everyone. Conn Maxwell knew different. He had studied the records on Earth and he thought he knew the true facts about this cosmic computer. To tell them would be to panic Poictesme, so instead he set about a new search in his own way—with startling results. Enjoy! |

One of Pipers best. The other one is "Space Vikings".
Guess what you should do next :-> Maybe you should do a complete Piper Omnibus. PG has almost all his works and the few still in copyright will not become available soon (not even a reprint). |

It has? Where? It's not properly indexed if it has been - how is anyone supposed to find it?

I note, from reading the Wikipedia article on Mr. Piper, that both this book and "Space Viking" are part of a series called the "Federation" series. I think I'll do an omnibus edition of the complete series - that would make it easier to read the books in the right order.
The books in the series are: 1. Uller Uprising 2. Four-Day Planet 3. Lone-Star Planet 4. The Cosmic Computer 5. Space Viking I'll try and get that done tomorrow. I'll leave these books here in case anyone prefers to download them separately. |

Have a look at http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Scienc...m.2C_1904-1964
There are two series. "Terro-Human Future History" and "Paratime". Best do both as an omnibus. It would not hurt to make a third omnibus of the other SF from Piper. "Murder in the Gunroom" should be a separate book. Maybe "A Catalog of Early Pennsylvania and other Firearms and Edged Weapons at 'Restless Oaks' McElhattan, PA" can be added, because "Murder in the Gunroom" is about a gun collection. "Rebel Raider" is a biography/report from the US Civil War. Not really in popular demand. Last edited by Robert Marquard; 06-07-2007 at 10:28 AM. |

Hi Robert,
Yes, I agree with you. That would be a good way to do it. |

If it has no other merit, I can at least claim that it's the largest book posted on the forum to date . |
