chances emerge that if new generations of students grow up getting used to such devices within academic envoirnments, the demand of such for private uses will grow |

If you are looking for such products, they are out there. My new Onyx Boox Note 2 (10.3"), for instance.

I think Sony and Onyx may be using it in their 13.3" eInk devices. The Sony is a PDF reader and the Onyx is Android based. The Onyx should be able to be used like a tablet or as close as you'll get to an eInk tablet.

Sony appears to have dropped their eInk devices. The web page has disappeared and I've checked two sites where they say the devices have been discontinued.

Maybe that's why they dropped it.

There are a couple of recently released devices based on the Sony ‘chassis’ - the Fujitsu QUADERNO A4 and the QuirkLogic Papyr , so It looks like they’ve switched to manufacturing the hardware for other companies to use with their own software.

It's truly unfortunate that the QUADERNO A4 is being sold by GoodeReader, given their spotty reputation, Mothter's Day predictions, and less than stellar regard in the ebook community. Be careful. |

It's probably an indication that Fujitsu doesn't want to sell them outside Japan.

Indeed, in the same way that QuirkLogic don’t want to sell the Papyr outside North America and GoodEReader appear to be the only route there... Having said that, I’m not going for either, due to a combination of cost and not wanting to deal with the hassle/delays involved with duty/customs when importing electronics via regular shipping, regardless of the retailer.
