Samsung Galaxy Note 3 problem
Hi
I have upgraded from a Samsung S2 which worked beautifully with Caibre to a Note 3 which won't. Calibre detects the Note 3 no problem but then hangs when it tries to get a list of books on the device. Under jobs the status column says Found object: winprofile.ini and the progress column remains hung at Unavailable. I'm using Calibre version 1.20.0, Android 4.3 and Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Any help would be great as I'm not sure where to go from here. Thanks |

Try rebooting both your device and your computer, trya differnt USB cable and port. Try resetting your device. If none of those work, then you can use of the wireless connection methods described here: http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq....kindle-fire-hd

Thanks Kovid.
I've let it sit for a while and it's started up the job again but it's seems to be going through every file on the Note 3, including every jpg file etc. It's currently at 27 minutes! I have a complete web site sucked up onto the phone so it will take it a very long time to do this every time I connect the Note 3. Is there any way to direct Calibre to search only in one directory or folder on the Note 3 for books? Thanks |

Once it has connected the first time, right click the device icon and choose configure this device, which will allow you to specify what folders ont he device to ignore when scanning it.

OK, so 37 minutes later it finished the job and I managed to access the configure device options. Hopefully it will start playing nicely now!

I too have a Samsung Galaxy Tablet and Calibre can't/wont recognise it. I have books in my Calibre library but can't download them to my device because it doesn't show. I have tried all the options to recognise devices but none work. Any assistance would be appreciated. Do I have to have an App on my tablet. If so which one?

I'm sorry gpjo, I'm probably not a lot of help to you. I'm sure others will be along shortly to help you.
I had no problems with my set-up recognising my Note 3. My problem was purely down to my impatience, thinking Calibre had hung, and not realising it would read the whole device and all file formats on the first occasion it was attached. |

I asked what OS because the device connects to the USB port via MTP and if the OP is using Windows XP or OSX then there is no MTP support and the device will not be able to connect via MTP. If that is the case then check out this section of the FAQ, particularly the section that is titled Over The Air.
I would suggest using the Calibre Companion app to connect wirelesly to calibre. |

In that case you need to follow the directions in the sticky post at the top of this forum.
