Create a photo book that takes up the entire screen space?
I am referring to creating a book (in the format that you recommend) in which there are only images that occupy the entire width and height of the screen (like the cover of a book). That is, when turning the page they are only complete images.
I would like to create a file with a collection of black and white photos. But there are some things I don't know: What is the size or resolution that I should put on the images (I have a 7th generation paperwhite). In what format should I compress it (pdf, azw, epub etc). |

The first thing to know is that you cannot make the images take up the full screen if that's not the correct aspect ratio.. You need to keep them in the correct aspect ratio. A Kindle, Kobo, Pocketbook, etc. are using an aspect of 4:3 while most computer screens are 16:9.

Many photos are in 4:3. The Photos app on iPhone defaults to this.
As to the OP, try Kindle Comic Converter. Last edited by tomsem; 08-11-2022 at 08:05 PM. |

The screen dimensions of that model are 1448 x 1072 pixels, which is not exactly 4:3. You should use that size to fill the entire screen, or a multiple of that if you want to be able to pinch zoom photos to see more detail.
The normal Kindle reflowable book formats leave a margin around images so you need to use a fixed layout format that can place images to the edges of the screen. One possibility is using the Kindle comic book format which you can create using Kindle Comic Converter from a zipped file of JPEG images (cbz). |

If you use the Kindle Comic Creator, you can put all images into a folder an then create a mobi / azw file with 100% width and height for the images. each image is a seperate page. normally i use this for mangas, but it works for all images that have the correct screen ratio format. Kindle Comic Converter is automatically stretching the image into the correct size.
After that you can use Calibre to edit the metadata (book name, autor etc). p.s: there is also a method to do it with calibre somehow, but i tried that method for countless times and never got it to work correctly.. so Kindle Comic Creator was always the way to go for me. the only alternative i know other than that would be to create a pdf file with the images already 100% width & height and then using k2pdfopt to fix issues with the stretching of the images. but that takes A LOT more effort since you then also need to convert the pdf back to mobi / azw etc.. so i would just use KCC. There is yet another problem. That is portrait and landscape. If you make some images portrait, they may look too small on a device with a smallish screen such as a phone. But if you rotate the image so it's landscape, that won't work well on a laptop screen or computer monitor. There seems to be all kinds of issues like there that need to be decided upon before then eBook can be created. |

@kpoviv, are you making this eBook for your personal use? Are you planning on using it on your Kindle?
