Archiving books?

My wife has a Kindle, and I know it's possible to archive books in her collection that she doesn't want to have on her device at the moment. I cannot find any feature like this on my Kobo, and I'm wondering if this is something that's in the works. I know kobobooks.com keeps track of my purchases and bookmarks, so it seems like something that should be easy to implement, but I'm not sure why I cannot do it.

My concerns are this:
  1. I have the Kobo app on my iPod, and I don't want a bunch of books that I've already read taking up space on there.
  2. Although I'm nowhere near using up all the space on my Kobo, I know it will happen eventually and I want to be able to delete purchases from my device to free up space for new ones, without the concern that I'll never be able to access those books again without re-purchasing.

If on the website you delete a book from the I'm Reading section of My Library, it will be removed from your device. It will still show up in the Purchased section of My Library, and can be restored from the Trash.

So you're saying it's okay to delete books from my iPod and Kobo without worrying that they're gone forever? I'll still be able to retrieve them by going into the "purchased" section and retrieving them?

As far as I know YES.... Just don't drop them from the TRASH on the Website!

But if you want to be sure, go and ask Kobo.

But if I want to delete them from my iPod and NOT my Kobo, I cannot do that, right? Because the "I'm reading" section would be synced across all devices.

Shame. I hardly ever read books on my iPod unless I'm shopping with the wife and forgot to bring my Kobo. I don't need books on there that I've already finished but I don't necessarily want to delete them from my Kobo.

Well you could always use different formats; manage the Kobo via ADE, and the iPod via the Kobo Web.

Then download the ePub version of material from the Kobo website into ADE and manage it that way.

Nah, I prefer my handheld devices to be kinda self-sufficient, ie., I rarely ever sync my devices to a computer. Maybe once a month or so. That's because I rarely turn my computer on, preferring to surf the web from my iPod touch. So I buy books on the Safari app and then update the Kobo Touch via wifi to download the books. Having to use ADE would be a pain in the butt.
