Agnus, Orme: The New Minister. v1. 26 Aug 2015
John Charles Higginbotham: Ps. Orme Agnus (1866-1919)
Excerpt FROM times beyond record there had been rivalry between the villages of Piddle-cum-Okeford and Hind-hill. It is a tradition that centuries ago it was more a deadly feud than rivalry, for Piddle in mediaeval times owned Sir Philip Okeford as its lord, and Hindhill swore fealty to Lord Canford, and the two nobles were mortal enemies. At any rate the rivalry still exists; Piddle now vaunts itself on a railway-station, Hindhill speaks with pride of its Parish Hall, and prefers to drive the seven miles to Suckton Station rather than the four to Piddle.
