This patch thread is for firmware 4.37.21586 (42535ad97662966620d10f8dc6735ab7e5ce9c37):

Instructions for patching on Windows, Linux, or macOS with kobopatch:

1. Download the Kobo firmware release
   You can find the download links here here.
2. Download and extract the patch zip
   Download and unzip kobopatch_4.37.21586.zip from here.
3. Copy the firmware file to the src folder
   Copy the original firmware you just downloaded into the kobopatch src folder.
4. Install the firmware if needed
   Install the firmware on your kobo BEFORE proceeding with the next steps. You can do this by extracting the contents of the firmware zip into the .kobo folder and ejecting.
5. Choose your patches from the files in the src folder
   Enable patches in the files in the src folder (or use the overrides in kobopatch.yaml to keep your options separate).
6. Run kobopatch
   Double-click kobopatch.bat on Windows, or run ./kobopatch.sh on Linux or macOS. On macOS, you can drag it into the terminal and press enter (you may need to go to System Preferences - Security and Privacy - General to confirm that you actually want to run it).
7. Install the patches by copying KoboRoot.tgz into the .kobo folder of your device
   If the patching succeeded, a file named KoboRoot.tgz will be created in the out folder. Copy it to the .kobo folder of your device. Safely remove your device once you are finished. On Linux, you may have to press Ctrl+H to show the .kobo folder.

"Block WiFi firmware upgrade" did not work for me; my Libra 2 was automatically upgraded from 4.37.21582 to 4.37.21586 yesterday. I will try "Always show confirmation dialog before upgrading" with this version's patch.

Good thing the patch failed. You do want 4.36.21586 instead of 4.36.21582.

Well, yes, I was going to get to it pretty soon; I figure that a quick release like that would be important. But I also figured that it would be worth noting that that patch didn't work (at least for me).

Does anyone have a problem in patching Kobo Elipsa in this version? After applying the patch, Nickel does not show file names properly.

At first, I upgraded to 4.37.21586 by wifi, then patched it => didn't work.
Then I tried to manually download the firmware again, and did the patch again, still didn't work.

The first question is which patches did you enable? There is not a single patch, what you are applying is your choices from the patches.

The second question is where you are seeing the filenames? In the details pane for sideloaded ebooks? One thing you need to realize is that filenames mean very little on a Kobo ereader, the database is where information is stored. As you may notice, purchases from Kobo that are synced to your ereader do not show a filename or path.
