Question How to create catalog with calibre

Hi!
I have many DVDs with books. How to use the Calibre to make their catalog without copy on HDD?

You are creating 'Empty Books" (no format)
Add from ISBN works for paper books. You can set a Tag to apply at the session start. Paper Library...

The import List PI might work out if you can map CSV column items into Calibre fields. We still will call them Empty Books

Because books can be added one by one. How to scan the CD without copying the books on the HDD?

You don't
Calibre IS the Librarian. It needs to HAVE inside the book to open to get as much metadata as possible.

You could ADD books from the CD, then remove formats, leaving an empty Book

Preferences: Adding Books: Tag to apply: <the CD label/ID> so you can find them

A DVD is 4.7G
a !T HD is US$59. I doubt you will have that many books (or Manga) to push that capacity

IMHO Let Calibre do its thing and manage the books

@Ppaa : If you have or can get a listing of the CD contents (in the form of a file) that contains say author and title, you could use it as input to the Import List Plugin.
