Poll on obstacles to ebook buying
At my blog, I am conducting a poll about the most important obstacle to your purchasing ebooks. I invite MobileReaders to particpate. The poll is at Ebook Buying Obstacles: A Poll (I). The poll will last for 1 week; you can make only 1 selection and can only vote once. Your particpation is appreciated.

Hi,
Try this link: http://americaneditor.wordpress.com/...cles-a-poll-i/ EDIT: You also might want to put on that poll Geographic Restrictions as thats my biggest annoyance. |

My current greatest impediment in buying eBooks is geographical restrictions.

Price greater than $9.99 gets my vote. Editing errors/typos are annoying, but I don't read up and see if an e-book has them before buying. I don't care about DRM as I'll probably stick with Kindle/Kindle Apps in the long run and I seldom ever re-read a book anyway.

Unavailablility of the books which are of interest to me in ebook format is my greatest obstacle.
The items in the poll are definitely concerns I have, but I don't consider them to be the biggest "obstacle". Last edited by rebarnmom; 02-10-2010 at 01:31 PM. |

I haven't voted because the biggest problem for me, like other non-US residents, is Geographic Restrictions...and that's not one of the options.

Geographic restrictions for me too! If I can't buy it the price doesn't matter at all...

I didn't include geo restrictions in this go round but will include it in future polls. As with all polls, not evey possibility is covered, just what the pollster is inerested in . I will admit that I didn't think of geo restrictions, probably because I haven't found that to be a problem So to you for whom that is the only impediment, I apologize; for those for whom that is but the most important impediment among several, I ask that you choose from among the choices given.

DRM drives me nuts. With a paper book I could read a book and if I thought it was good, lend it to a friend or my mom..
With DRM it's locked to my device. Publishers are now trying to get us to pay more for e-books, so they expect $15 per book for LESS rights than a hard cover. It's just not acceptable. |
