Intl Kindle font contrast bigger than US

Just received my Intl Kindle and I've found font contrast is sighly better in new device than in my old US Kindle.

When I finish work I will post a photo side by side.

They are not good quality but can be seen the difference. In real it is more noticeable.

I've compared whit my Onyx, that has a very good contrast. International Kindle contrast is nearer Onyx than US Kindle.

I've noticed something like this between my Sony 505 and my Int'l Kindle, but I thought it might be because of the diferent fonts. I use Georgia on the Sony, which is rounder and 'softer'.

I just checked again, and while it's not a direct comparison, there do seem to be a difference much like in your first photo.

Also, these displays seem to degrade a bit over time. I remember comparing my year old 505 to a brand new one and the difference was definitely noticeable.
