Original Brand New PRS-500 Screens
Please disregard this thread. If the moderators don't mind, could they just delete this thread?
Thanks Ron Hi everyone, I have access to 10 original, still boxed and sealed Sony PRS-500 screens. I bought one for my broken reader and am in the process of changing it almost as I write this. I could use some help establishing a fair price so that they can benefit the membership here. Please, if you have any fair ideas, post them here. The screens should be here by this time next week. After a price has been established, we can talk about taking orders. Shipping will be at cost via Canada Post without any so called 'handling charges' (regular or expedited) All the best Ron Last edited by ron0909; 05-30-2009 at 01:02 PM. Reason: Cancelled my screen order due to being enlightened |

Just my luck I will have 11 PRS-500 screens and a PRS-500 with a short on the main board! I guess during my stupid human trick of picking up a large TV with a reader in my pocket really did a number!.
If anyone has a 500 with broken screen that they would like to sell or a working main board I'd really be interested. I'm open to trades with the above screens as well. All the best Ron |

wow that really sucks, I sold my broken 500 on amazon for 65 bucks. hopefully you can get one reasonably priced on ebay. I'm sure there are a few broken 500s in drawers around here still though.
the unfortunate thing is that 500s don't get alot of talk around here any more, for 50 bucks more you can get a 505 with the best screen Ive seen on any ereader (500 is kinda dark), and the ergonimics is slightly better (I don't like the button placement, I liked the 500 butter, but I hated the buttons, small little sharp things they were) Maybe you can find some way to attach it to one of those small sub $100 linux computers, possibly the guys from open inkpot could help. |

I'd buy another used 500 as I just got so used to the one I had. I agree, the 505 is a much better screen. I just reasoned that repairing a broken 500 is still a cheaper option than buying a new reader. I was figuring around 80.00 plus shipping as a price for the new screens. Thanks for the idea though I'm heading over there now!
