The city of London is stuffed full of financial workers during the week, and is largely empty on Sundays. I think that this is just a new cleric's attempt to drum up a congregation.

Yes, but as it's the Church of England, I think they were for the translation of the Bible in English and available to the masses. I mean, King James authorized the writing of the Bible in English in 1611! And in 1526, William Tyndale already made the very first translation... (though he had to have it printed in Germany...)
