We'll see.
I think the Kobo almost has to lower their price now as both the WiFi nook at $149 and the new Wi Fi Kindle at $139 will kill their sales. Can they afford to do so? I don't know. So far Amazon seems to be saying "Set your lowest price and then we'll beat you by $10" and I can't imagine Barnes and Noble and/or Kobo having the financial reserves to take that on .... maybe Sony could be they really aren't dropping their prices by as much as I expected. I expect that end of the year shopping season 2011 we'll have several below $100 readers to choose from. |

The Ectaco Jetbook Lite is often on sale for under $100, and now supports
ADE, eReader, and B&N DRM scams. Luck; Ken |

Carl, the jetBook Lite was $89.99 with free shipping at newegg.com the week before last.
JBL sales are always mentioned in the jetBook forum, so if you keep an eye there, you will see the next time it goes on sale. |

It seems like Amazon is able to reduce the price while increasing the quality of the product. Maybe if Sony tried that tactic it would sell some more units. |

If they can't make money on the hardware then they will leave the market or adjust so that they can make money that way, the future for sony in this market will probably end up being a higher end device tied to the b&n site or perhaps they will be one that ends up licensing the kindle hardware and producing a sony-branded version of that. They have tried being a trailblazer in this market, but they simply don't have the same level of desire as other companies where the hardware is secondary to boosting their sales of content like amazon or b&n. |

Also, I suspect Amazon is at least temporarily suspending its previous strategy (profiting from both device and ebooks) in favor of profiting primarily off the ebooks. I'm pretty sure Sony was planning to make money from the device, in which case the price war is going to seriously hurt them. |
