Amazon allows DTP publishers to opt out of DRM
Edit: It appears that we were all fooled by our optimism. No DRM was always the default; this change was more of an 'opt-in to DRM'. See http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/01...m_drm_changes/

Will there be some sort of indication that there is no DRM before anyone buys?

Simultaneous Device Usage: Unlimited then the book has no DRM. See my title for an example: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0034KZ0LC/ Last edited by pdurrant; 01-21-2010 at 03:37 PM. |

It would be nice if they were to add it explicitly to the product description I suppose. When I've bought a book there that's DRM free I've tagged it as so so that others would know.

This is really great news - we want the authors and publishers to be rewarded for their good efforts, but we also want to be able to use what we buy.
Strangely enough, the Overdrive model does not bother me. A book I rent for a 14 day period (at low/no cost), and then which self destructs, makes it clear I am just renting it for a single read. Books I purchase, however, I want to be able to correct formatting, punctuation, and grammar since the publishers seem to be doing such a bad job. Robert |

Currently, are there any other electronic reading devices that can support Kindle books? ... other than those like the iphone where you have to download the amazon software to read them.

Out of curiosity, are there any chance that they will charge you more when actually using DRM ?
