Kindle for Mac 7.9 -- can't access toolbar
Toolbar option is greyed out. Any suggestions?

Do you mean 7.19? Which toolbar are you referring to?

My 7.19 is working normal.

Interesting! Where did you get 7.9? Is it a beta?

I'm running 7.19 (1.351401.10), which appears to be the latest version on the Mac App Store.

Version 7.19.0.100 (1.351401) here, and yes, the toolbar option is greyed out. But that's because the Kindle app does't have any toolbar, isn't it? And no sidebar either, hence its menu entry is also greyed out.

The menu bar entries shouldn't exist at all, that's the confusing part.

It is a macOS app (via Catalyst?), it cannot not have an app menu. It's not entirely greyed out, for example About Kindle, Quit Kindle, Help, View/Exit Full Screen.

Apart from that, it shares most of the same UI and features as the iPadOS Kindle app, but without any sort of Kindle Store access (to download samples or borrow KU titles).

Updated to 7.19 and many useful menu options are greyed out, although some are accessible via the hamburger menu at top right. It's like Amazon utilized its own UI rather than that of MacOS.

I see under hamburger menu that flashcards are going away in November. Never used that particular feature...

Mac Catalyst is an Apple technology that lets developers port their iPadOS apps to MacOS with minimal effort. This appears to be what Amazon has used. It's Amazon's choice which menu options they want to provide in the app menu, but it is extra work for them (there is no equivalent app menu in iPadOS).
