Image background in the Viewer
Calibre 7.19. viewer. How can I assign different margins to background image and text? Text is ok with just coloured background, but loses all margins as soon as I add a background image. 2-page landscape in paged mode.
I have tried different values in Page Layout and Styles, and nothing helps, text jumps to the edge of the background image. (no added CSS) Same book looks exactly as I want in Calibre 3.34 viewer. Also found that (without background pic) the values for maximum text area remain constant, which widens the margins when I enlarge the viewer window. please! Well, I don't use background images in the viewer but I can't see it losing margins on a quick test:
I guess screenshots would be helpful! |

BTW, I set lateral margins to 10 and top/bottom 25.
Perhaps you want the background to fill the headers and footers' space as well? |

Ah, and on the sides I believe there must be some space for the clickable triangles that turn pages

I have a nice old-book-like background image on old PC and the reading experience is hundred times better. |

hum I see. If that happens even if you add larger values to lateral margins, then it might be something needing a fix, I guess

The image background applies only to the text area, it does not apply to margins. This is for technical reasons and is not going to change. You need to either pick an image that blends into the background color or make the margins narrow enough.

Thanks for answering, and for the (otherwise) excellent program, Kovid.
That is really a bummer and loses (at least for me) all point of having an image for the background. Compared to 'old book' that I've been enjoying (in Win7), plain colour background feels much flatter. |
