Asimov's Foundation in ADE

I'm in the mood to reread Foundation and I see it's available at a number of stores in ADE version but not ePub. I've had mixed results buying ADEs - the PDF formatting can be unsuitable for a 6" screen. Anybody try any of these? If so, how's the text size and margins?

Thanks

Why not buy the Microsoft Reader (.lit) version, remove the DRM and convert to epub/lrf? Calibre does a great job converting from (unDRM'd) lit to epub. Albeit, DRM removal is kind of a gray area...

I have the foundation series from the sony store. It used to be a bundle, might even still be. No conversion or questionable activities required. Not sure how the price compares as I have not looked

Actually, the term ADE stands for Adobe Digital Editions. ADE is a program for displaying PDF and ePub with or without DRM. ADE is not an eBook format. So using the term ADE to mean PDF is incorrect. Use PDF when you mean PDF and ePub when you mean ePub. Don't incorrectly use ADE to mean a document format.

Anyway as to your question, the text should be ok, but the margins will be too large per 99% of PDFs out there.

Like it or not, Jon, several bookstores use the term "ADE" to mean "PDF with ADE DRM". Complaining about this is as pointless as compaining about the use of "eReader" to mean "an eBook reading device" .

Agreed. I am guilty of propagating vagaries and I will reform.

I prefer device-agnostic formats which is why I'm considering the PDFs over the Sony files. Maybe I'll wait impatiently for the ePubs...

The more we stand out against incorrect usage of these terms, the more the public will be informed. Then part of the solution is to contact these shops and let them know that they are using ADE incorrectly and confusing people and causing some to buy content in the wrong format.

Actually, for the regular consumer, using Adobe Digital Editions is better than saying PDF w/ADE. A lot of people don't know you can put DRM on PDF files. If they marketed these ebooks as PDF, buyers will complain that they can't read it with Adobe Acrobat or FoxIt or on one of the numerous portable devices that can read PDF.

But if you say ADE, a lot of people will buy it when it's the wrong format. Calling PDF ADE is a sham and a fraud. ADE is the program to display PDF and ePub. It's not the format of PDF or ePub.
