Resizing Images in Kindle

I'm using Sigil on a Mac. The following CSS works perfect in Apple Books

However, when I use Calibre to convert my epub to AZW3, it fails. All images display as normal size when previewed in Kindle on my Mac. Does Kindle require some special CSS to resize images?

I am curious which Kindle app you are using on your Mac, the old Kindle Classic app or the new Kindle for Mac app?

And why AZW3 format? The Kindle apps on Apple devices do not support that format natively.

I suggest you try using Amazon’s send-to-kindle with an EPUB source file. That should result in your book being delivered to Kindle apps and devices in Amazon’s newer KFX format.

I'm using Kindle for Mac Version 1.4. I converted it to AZW3 based on a suggestion on another thread on this forum. So, is "Amazon's send-to-kindle" a conversion program that I can find on the Internet? In other words, I would just upload my epub to Amazon's send-to-kindle and ask it to convert it to the KFX format?

Send to Kindle whether the app, email or web page will add the ebook to your Amazon documents. You can then sync it to the app and/or device of your choice and the ePub will be converted to the appropriate format to be downloaded.

Thanks, but I'm confused. It looks like "the app" is the Kindle program already installed on my Mac. Next, I need to navigate to a web page where I can add my epub to "Amazon documents." Can you give me the URL? I assume this is a page where I simply upload my epub. Does this web page then tell me how to sync my epub with the Kindle reader on my Mac?

Nevermind, I found it at https://www.amazon.com/sendtokindle

However, the maximum file size it accepts is 200 MB. My book is twice that big.

I assume that you mean version 1.40. That is the old Kindle for Mac app. Amazon now refers to it as Kindle Classic and has stated that it will receive no further updates. The new Kindle for Mac app can be found here.

You will need the newer app if you want to read books delivered using send-to-kindle.

It is hard to give further advice without knowing what you are trying to achieve. If you are just trying to read a book on your Mac then I would suggest using some other software instead of Kindle for Mac, such as the e-book reader included in calibre. If you are trying to preview a book that you intend to sell on Amazon then I would suggest using Amazon's Kindle Previewer software and also reducing the file size of your book so that you can use send-to-kindle.
