Per Sivle (1857–1904) er stadig blandt de mest folkekjære av våre nynorske diktere og forfattere. Her er en liten samling fortellinger fra hans barndoms Voss, gjengitt etter forfatterens beste evner på rent, uforfalsket klassisk Vossa-maul. Fra innledningen:
«Eg ha skrive dei på Vossa-Mål, desse Stubbane; eg laut so gjera, skje eg sjølu kunna kannast mæ dei. Endå da æ kje alti so greitt, få livande Måle ne på Papire; dar æ Trot på Bogstava endå te.»
