Ways to get ebooks from others stores

Boris - I am reposting the question here so others can see your response as well, as you suggested. What other ebook stores can you use to add to the edge and how? I know they have to be epub or pdf, but how do you know which ones will allow you to add them to the edge without it being protected?

Thanks - Claire

I know you can get them from the Sony store, but don't know the exact way to go about this

Boris, This was a BIG plus for me....I have a Sony reader ( actually 2 ) and a Kindle2 and it was great to find that all the books I spent so much for are now readable on the beautiful 9.7" Edge screen!! Jon

Even though you did put the short answer first, I went ahead and read the long one after reading the short one :P

Okay so I tried the sony ebook store as you suggested and I followed the same email for each one, but when I try to put the book on my edge it says: "Document licensed to another user" but I made sure to have the same email so I don't understand why it didn't work. Any suggestions? I also tried ebooks and made sure it was a PDF format using Adobe Digital and same issue. This is frustrating. If it is possible, I would like to be able to download books from other places since the edge bookstore is not very good.

Boris, great info. Yet more bookmarks to add to my list.

Just in case no one has seen this before, here is a great free book site for older books and stuff I would assume other ebook sellers just ignore due to them being in the public domain.

Haven't looked to deep into the selection, but will eventually. They do support EPUB (some with images) which is pretty cool.

Boris, one minor difference for me on Windows 7, the EPUB was here instead of the "My Digital Editions" under "My Documents"

C:\Users\craig\Documents\My Books\Reader Library

Thanks

I have also found you can drag and drop books from the Adobe Digital Editions software to the eDGe. You need to connect your eDGe to your computer via USB. You then need to mount the drive. When you have a successful connection you will see the eDGe as a device within the software. Simply drag and drop the new content. You can also manage your existing content but I think there are better ways to do this.

eberhardt333 - I had the same issue, it turned out I had misspelled my email address on the Edge by one letter. Check by going to the shopping cart on your menu bar, when the Edge store opens check your email in the upper right corner.

Okay, thanks for the help so far, but nothing is working still. I have made sure that my email is the same for all and triple checked it. I opened all the ebooks in the adobe digital on computer just fine. I re-registered my edge and selected the screen name and retyped the email again and it still did not work. All of the books still say "document licensed to another user." I am also having trouble downloading a book from the edge store. It says I bought it, but if I go to the purchased section and hit update it says "error: connection failed" and I can't download it. Maybe they are connected? Apparently I cant get a book, even from the edge store at this point. So frustrating. Any other suggestions of what might be going on? I guess I should call them tomorrow.

Problems loading files

I purchased several books and downloaded to my PC prior to receiving the edge. Now I cant get them into my library. I have put them on a usb device and opened library and selected the USB device. Then selected the book to copy to the library. I am then told it is protected and do I want to download it to the library. I touch yes and after a few seconds it places a red exclamation point on the top left of the screen and repeats the statement regarding protected file etc. I now have 5 red exclamation points and no books in the library.

I finally got it to work! So while my adobe digital online account said my email/id was the same as the edge, when I checked the one on my computer that was downloaded it was a different email. Since the books I had tried to download never worked on the edge because they kept taking the books away, I just re-registered my edge with the other email and now I am able to get the books. Thanks for the help.

I was able to download the Android version of the ereader from the ereader site - www.ereader.com and it installed and ran perfectly, but it is about the size of a phone screen on my color touch screen. It is not an ideal situation, but I am able to purchase .pbd format books and read them on the color screen.
