Customization ?
Sigil customization
Hi, Sigil is already very fine and handy. Nevertheless, I think it could be worth to offer your users the possibility to customize it just a little bit. For my so short experience of html, I think it would be nice for example if the user could create a button which would later stay on the panel, give it a name with some characters and define its property. In code view, when need would arise, the user would let the cursor blink on the intended place and push the chosen button to insert the required code. The user should be able later to modify any button any time. Another related idea, would be to trigger a drop-down menu which could have ten or more empty tags available. You would provide the menu, the user would fill it up with its own mess (tags and the like). We all have two or three favourite tricks which require the iterative insertion of sometimes complex tags. The user would probably feel more at home with Sigil this way. As you could expect from me, it's a little braindead idea but could it not prove handy in everyday use? |

It sounds like you are asking for a macro capability. This is really different from allow you to customize the software or user interface.

Many years ago, When the Internet was young....
I had a program that was included with a HTML tutorial book. The program was HTML Assistant. Basically it was a Text editor with a text Tag wrapping tool similar to what this forum has above the reply box. What was a nice feature, was the ability to create custom Tag pairs and add them to the (user) menu, with a label. Select text, right click and pick a tag-pair to use. I would love a tool like this when in code view. |

There was some talk about this a few months ago. The conclusion is that it's planned, but there are more pressing matters first. The 0.2.0 rewrite set back a lot of my plans for several months.

Thanks for your reply. Good to now something like that will come some day.
Of course it's not a killer feature but a comfort one so it makes sense to prioritize. Also provided should be a way to save our "hand-made tags" between two versions of Sigil. |
