505 Library Management
Could anyone tell me the best way to organise my collections on the Sony Reader 505? I must be doing something wrong?
I use the software that came with the reader I could not get on with Calibre. I have 300 books in my library and another 300 on a 2gig SD card. I created collections Horror, Sci-Fi, Non Fiction and put the various books in the relevant collection this worked fine until I also created the same collections on my SD card. I tried to delete collections on the reader and they do appear to delete but when I close the library and then open again they reappear? Also, every time I add books to my library while the reader is connected I get the message not enough space, when the reader is connected I get the same message and think possible the library is syncing with the reader. To be totally honest I have no idea the best way to manage my library any help would be appreciated. Thanks Kevin P.S I thought about buying 512 SD cards and loading each card with different Genre but will be pleased to hear any suggestions. |

Sync - It might be, but you only see the sync options when the reader is connected, so be sure to check then.
(Relatively) small numbers of books on seperate cards is probably the best way to go if you need then available without a PC. Personally, I just tend to have a small number of books on the Reader (100 or so), but use Calibre to manage the library/reader. Was there any particular issue with Calibre? |

I just have a new Sony 505 and I read both the reader manual and the Library Help. As far as I can conclude you can make collections in the Library (on the PC) AND on the reader’s internal memory AND on the memory card that is inserted. They all show up independently in the PC Library application. So far so good.
On the reader, however, everything is merged. Books and collections in internal memory are combined with the ones on the storage card and without distinction all are presented in the contents. So, if you have no collections on internal memory (you deleted them) but you do have collections on the memory card, the collections do still appear on the reader. A small icon at the right shows if a book is stored on memory card. Hope this helps? Last edited by QubyB; 05-29-2009 at 05:08 AM. |
