New Policy on Translations Included with Sigil Releases
New Policy on Translations included with Sigil Releases
Due to the large number of dead or inactive translations of Sigil on Transifex, our policy for including a language precompiled into our Release installers is the following: 1. Translations must pass the 75% complete mark 2. The translation team must be semi-active i.e. filling in new translation strings as they are generated by changes in Sigil 3. Must not be duplicates of an already existing language (For example: az and az_AZ are exact duplicates and therefore only az will be included) Any new or existing translations that meet these criteria will be included into a release unless download size becomes a concern. At that point we will look into separate language packs if needed. Thanks, KevinH |

Translation Policy Changes
There seem to be a lot of stagnant translation efforts. After our last release, the criteria for us to include a language translation inside the released Sigil application has gone *up* from 75% minimum translated to 85% minimum translated. In addition, our free Transifex account has a limit to the number of languages we are allowed to have, so any language without any language translation activity in the last year will be removed to free up space for new languages requests and activities. If you do care about any of these completely inactive translations, you may want to help those efforts or archive them to not lose anything. |

In followup to my previous announcement from April of 2024 (quoted below):
I have removed 36 dead translation efforts on Sigil's Transifex site. All had *less than* 10% of Sigil translated (and many had 0%) and all were inactive (not been updated by translators in over 2 years) or were just requested languages with no translators. The following were removed: Spoiler:
None of these have shipped inside of Sigil in many years. This still leaves Sigil with 41 active or semi-active translation efforts. This should help future translators focus on active translation projects. For the record, for the next release the following languages meet or exceed the 85% translated hurdle and will be included with the released version of Sigil. This has been reasonably unchanging over the last year. Spoiler:
So 18 different languages translation efforts are shipped within Sigil leaving 23 only semi-active translation projects that would need help to reach the 85% cutoff. If you can help, please do. Quote:
