Major annoyance with iBooks app
Whenever either the iBooks app is updated, or the iPad's firmware is updated ( as happened yesterday), the manual ordering of books on the bookshelf is lost. This is very annoying. I've reported it as a bug; perhaps if a few more people were to do so, it might get fixed .

it is irksome. Ebook management on the device on most platforms is barely usable. needs attention for sure!

Too bad the titles aren't editable in iBooks. One could get them in the order desired then prepend the titles with numbers of some sort (1, 2, 3, ). Which would retain order in a resort

I like that idea. My husband's book is always the first book, but each new download means that I have to manual shift it back to the first spot.

I like iBooks a lot. This is just a small annoyance in an excellent program.

I find that iBooks loads books very slowly, and I usually need to tap on the cover a couple of times since I get an error message usually. And then once I'm reading, the page turning is veeery slow as well compared to how responsive Kindle/Stanza/GoodReader are.

Totally agree, Bremen; it's what makes the iPad a "real computer" rather than a dedicated device.

I'd like it to maintain the bookshelf order as well, and maybe speed up the initial load of the bookshelf.
