MS Word Find & Replace and "Smart" quotes question.
Hi there,
I want to replace all quotation marks in the document to "smart", but when I find-and-replace double quotation mark with double quotation mark (as shown in the video below at 02:05) I get French-style quotes (Guillemet) instead of smart ones. Do you guys know why this might happen? I have the same AutoCorrect option settings as he showed at the beginning of the video. ? Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=RyHiVVGowaU BTW when I use AutoFormat dialog instead of Find-and-Replace they are changed to smart just fine. So, this is not a vital-like question to me or a problem that need to be solved, but rather my curiosity. I just would like to get a better understanding of MS Word and what's going on there. PS.. BTW Happy New Year to all of you! |

Okay, I think have figured out what was the cause of my Guillemet problem and here's the solution (just in case someone will be interested):
As far as I've understood, the way "smart quotes" should look like (what characters they actually use) depends on language (e.g., French or Russian smart quotes are Guillemets while English smart quotes are curly ones). In order to get English-style smart quotes set the default Editing Language in MS Word to English (Options --> Languages --> Choose Editing Languages). |
