Angry Kindle 3 comfortable reading - Not!

I love the technology of my Kindle 3, but its not comfortable to hold. When I'm not unintentionally flipping pages, I've pressed a key and began a search, or the sharp thin bottom corners are digging into the palms of my hands.

I've searched for other talk on this subject but haven't found any. Am I the only one who thinks that the ergonomics of the kindle 3 are somewhat lacking? Is there a case or stretchy rubbery thing I could buy which will make my reading experiences less accident prone and painful, and more enjoyable?

I've never seen a Kindle leather cover in real life, but looking closely at some pictures, I don't see them helping very much. Perhaps they do?

Thanks in advance for any replies :-)

I've used my K2 without a cover, and my K3 in its cover since I got it. Never had an issue. I do find holding the k3 with the cover gives me more options in holding it, but I find that with or without a cover, holding my Kindles is far easier than holding a book open.

Comfort will be an individual thing. I've personally never had a problem either using it naked or in the Amazon cover or in an Oberon cover.

Perhaps some kind of gel case/silicone skin would make it a nicer experience for you.

I hate holding the K3 without some sort of protection. For $4, you can get a silicone protective cover from Crazy on Digital and it makes the kindle "fatter" and easier to hold. Check them out!

I suggest getting a cover. It makes it more like holding a regular book.

Not to be a contrarian (though that's in my nature), but I don't have any problem with the K3's ergonomics. Now granted, I keep it in a lighted cover and perhaps that makes all the difference, but I read for hours at a time with no problems and I almost never hit the wrong page turn buttons.

I've recently replaced my Kindle 2 with a Kindle 3. I think I need to give my fingers a few more weeks to get used to a new button layout before giving a final verdict, but so far I think the next and back buttons are far too easy to press accidentally. In comparison to K2, I don't think it's improvement.

I've used silicone skins with other devices and definitely would recommend one. It gives a better grip without adding too much bulk or weight.

I assume you mean the Kindle is naked. lol. Sorry I just couldn't resist especially since another posting talked about using protection etc.

I would strongly recommend ALWAYS using a Kindle (or any other book reader) in a cover simply to protect it. A cover also makes it thicker, and easier to hold.

Actually, for me Robbie, having the cover on made a world of difference.

I find that I hold the cover and not the Kindle, and then just need to click to

turn the page. Further, the Kindle did not feel as flimsy.

Amazon has a store in Oz where you can get them from.

Cheers

But a cover makes it heavier. I've generallly preferred to use my ebook reader with as light and thin covers as possible.

A Kindle with a cover is lighter than many paperbacks. Personally, I've never considered the weight of books to be a preventative factor when reading them.

I only read my kindle without a cover and never had any problems. If I touch any buttons by mistake, there's always the "back" option.

Maybe not, but why not take all the advantages that you can get, instead of making do? I don't really follow that "good enough" attitude.

I do have a cover that I put on my Kindle if I'm going out and about. I don't know how much protection against damage(from a fall) it would actually give, but it makes me feel better anyway.
