Debrick Kindle Oasis (1st version 8th gen)

My perfectly working US kindle oasis (original model) decided to brick on me tonight. Was working fine, then after transferring some docs over to it, I went to eject it. It appeared to eject fine on the computer, but then when I opened the cover there was some kind of un-dismissible "device error" about not ejecting correctly, and that the kindle was trying to recover or something.

I waited for a while and it would not recover, so I decided to do a hard reset. Now it's stuck on the boot screen. Amazon support is useless, per usual.

Any clues on how to brick a first gen kindle oasis? I was working perfectly before all of this, and has never been jail broken.

Any ideas appreciated.

I threw it in a closet for a month, and then tried to recharge it and it came back to life. Maybe it was stuck on a fsck loop or something. I ended up with a remarkable after this, never to buy kindle again.

It was a long time ago but I'm sure I did. The thing was temporarily bricked until it completely drained battery and then after a hail-mary recharge.
