Factory reset - what firmware does it go back to?

Just curious: I've had the KT since it came and had the original firmware with no wifi connectivity (I can't remember the version number anymore). If I have to factory reset it at some point, will it go right back to that and mean that I need to have the desktop software to restart it or does it default to a newer firmware version so at least I just need wifi to get get up and going again? Hopefully I never have the issue, but it would make a difference when traveling.

A factory reset rolls back the firmware to the previous version. e.g. 1.9.6 would be rolled back to 1.9.5

Hi RobKo

Factory reset will roll you back to the firmware that was installed at the Factory. So it depends when your unit was manufactured and what firmware the factory had on hand when manufacturing.

Whenever we have a firmware release, the factory gets that firmware as well so that all subsequently manufactured devices are shipped with the latest and greatest.

Cheers
Sameer.

I could have sworn it went back to the latest version(1.9.9) when I last did it.

Now I feel really stupid, I did a factory reset on my first Kobo and I never use the desktop app.
