Internet via USB ?
Hello guys.
I am new to this forum. You have very nice community here. I made searches , but did not find answer to question I have. I have kindle 4. Is it possible to use Internet not via Wi-Fi but via stationary computer that is connected to Internet?? I mean, I want to connect the device to my PC and look on Internet pages and run Internet applications using my PC connection to Internet. And one more questions - what is the best ICQ client for kindle? I know there is Trillian, but I don't like it. Thank you) |

Wait, are you sure you don't have Kindle Fire and NOT a Kindle 4?
Kindle 4: Kindle Fire: E-ink Kindles can only run Active Content, while the Kindle Fire runs Android apps... |

There are some USB to internet devices however they are designed to be used with a laptop not a kindle. I personally doubt if a kindle could drive one of the devices.

Besides that point, I don't believe the device can do that and certainly not in any way that's decent on a Kindle non-touch. Use your PC for surfing. If you're going to be physically connected to the PC anyways, just use it not the reader device. |

Many thanks for your answers, guys!
I have Kindle 4 from amazon and not Fire or touch or other model. Shopaholic, you understood my question right. I want to surf internet via kindle, because my eyes are getting very tired of any LCD/LED monitor, and on kindle I feel very very good. At least when I am not at work, I want to have a way to read and not feel like my eyes are going to die now. I am dreaming of release whole monitor of any size that could be used as black and white monitor with regular PC. If it will happen I will be the first buyer. Maybe for many people such approach will look strange, but I know many people who will like to have such INK monitor. I don't care that its slow, main point is that not ruining my eyes. Many thanks. |

it's tricky, the kindlevnc kindlet will run on a kindle 4, but there is not an appropriate installer for it, so it needs some fiddling. the kindlevncviewer application will not currently run on a kindle 4.

You can use the serial port to reflash the firmware. The USB method has not been figured out yet. USB recovery can be done only on K3/K4/K5 at this time.
