This is the 4th book in the Hercule Poirot series by Agatha Christie.

Roger Ackroyd knew too much. He knew that the woman he lov[quoteed had poisoned her brutal first husband. He suspected also that someone had been blackmailing her. Then, tragically, came the news that she had taken her own life with an apparent drug overdose.

However, the evening post brought Roger one last fatal scrap of information, but before he could finish reading the letter, he was stabbed to death. Luckily one of Roger’s friends and the newest resident to retire to this normally quiet village takes over—none other than Monsieur Hercule Poirot . . .

A few facts before the discussion might heat up: ;-)

Agatha Christie died in 1976.

EBooks uploaded to this site must be in the "life+70" public domain, or licensed under a compatible Creative Commons license. This means that the author (or translator) of the book must have died at least 70 years before the start of the current year. It is up to the individual to determine whether any particular eBook on MobileRead is legal to download in their country.

Obviously, there is a reason you won't find books by Agatha Christie on mobileread.com.

It's because the MR servers are located in the EU, where copyright extends to "life of the author plus 70 years after their death".

So, Dr. Drib's argument might hold on other platforms where servers are not located in the EU and it's just the readers who have to watch the copyright laws of their respective countries, but in this case it's MR as the distributor of potentially still protected works and it therefore has to abide by EU laws by making use of the copyright guidelines quoted above.

That's the facts as far as I can see (I am not a lawyer).
