Nook is running out...but not as fast as you might expect?
Just got this email from B&N this morning (as I'm sure all other pre-orderers have):
Quote:
As I keep finding out more and more about this device, the less and less I think it is for me (I've gotten over the glare on the Sony Touch and am leaning toward that). But, I have until Christmas, so I'm going to wait and see. |

In fact, it could mean anything at all. Or nothing. Reading tea leaves is rarely productive, especially when all you have is coffee. |

I wonder how many weeks of shipments they're going to do like this before the actual device is available in stores . . . I also wonder how fast stores will sell out. Could be like the Wii or the Kindle, where as soon as you order one they sell out, and you end up waiting weeks and weeks for yours to ship.

Well, they can try to make it look like "you have to order it NOW if you want it in time for Christmas", but I'm not falling for it.
Until they have an operations manual online, a broader, cheaper selection of ebooks, and actual units I can see and use in stores, my hard-earned money stays in my wallet. |

One has to wonder how much they'll make in restocking fees as folks return their Nooks.

What I plan to do is when I get mine in the mail I won't open it until I see it at the store. I'll play around with it there to see if I like it or not and if I don't i'll just return it without paying a penalty.

Can I return my nook? X Yes. You can return nook within 14 days of receipt. Either call 1-800-THE-BOOK (843-2665) for a return authorization or return it to any Barnes & Noble store. A 10% restocking fee will be charged to customers returning a non-defective device that has had its shrink wrap removed and/or seal broken. As long as the shrink wrap is not been removed it should be able to be returned without the fee. Last edited by Madam Broshkina; 10-31-2009 at 12:06 AM. |

Yes, that's exactly what I plan to do. If popularity does take off, I might even use 7 of those 14 days to try and flip it on eBay

As previously mentioned the restocking fee is only if you open it. Just hope the BN near you has a sample unit. |

EDIT: According to the quote in an earlier post, the 14 days runs from day of receipt. Last edited by rhadin; 10-31-2009 at 11:18 AM. Reason: correct misinformation |
