Updating Calibre

I am currently running version 6.7 on OSX Monterey. The Calibre download page states: "If you are using MacOS prior to 13.0 (Ventura), the last version of Calibre that will work on your machine is 6.29", which can't be right since my OSX Monterey version is 12.7.6. So I am wondering which version should I upgrade to?

Next problem, how does the upgrade process work? Just install the newer version and Calibre will do the rest? Or should I do a clean install and import the "old" data? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

6.7 is older than 6.29 so by all means upgrade to 6.29

Just reinstall calibre; all data will be preserved

Version numbers only look like normal decimal numbers, but that isn't how they work.
The number to the left of the period is the major version number, the number to the right is the minor version number.

So 29 is more recent than 7.

Version 6.7 should be thought of as 6.07 and not 6.70. And 6.07 < 6.29.

It's not so strange, really. The period is just a separator here, don't read the version as a real number :-) If you did, how would you interpret your OSX version 12.7.6?

It has been used for revision notation long before you were born. (And probably most of us)
